Our Billet crank support is a required mod for people that have pulled their  OEM caged pulleys removed, and are now running built motors with large lower pulleys. A conversation with a Ford engineer who helped develop the modular motor was had, and here's what he said about the stress added to crank snouts by removing the caged pulley system. 

"I would pattern it after the 03/04 and GT500 damper support system. That would separate the FEAD drive from the blower drive. The Ford crankshaft nose is really too small a diameter to support any weight. As a result, the crank nose just breaks off, a support mounted to the front cover will keep the crank in the correct position and eliminate any side loading. I would also use a ARP stud in-leu of a bolt to retain the damper. I also don't understand why people double key the crank. A key is used for positional location NOT load carrying."
